Battersea Power station and events venue – Visit to Venue Battersea Power Station Development Ltd to explore how the venue, events promoters, safety advisors and constructors work together with the Local Authority regulatory team to put on safe events.
The site of the former Battersea Power station in south London has provided an iconic venue for a huge variety of entertainment events. Major redevelopment construction work and also environmental and conservation challenges have meant that innovative approaches and close liaison has been necessary between Venue Battersea Power Station Development Ltd, production companies, their technical health and safety consultants and the Environmental Health Team from the London Borough of Wandsworth.
During this visit a member of the specialist Capita Events Safety Coordination team which operates all over the world will come together with representatives from the venue, events promoter and the Local Environmental Health team who work together to put on safe events including an Elton John concert for 8000 people in April 2014 requiring fast thinking, creativity and flexibility from all concerned when Peregrine falcons were found to have taken up residence in one of the power stations towers shortly before the concert was due to take place.
The visit will explore the use and content of Event management plans, Emergency Plans (weather, medical, fire, crowd, overcrowding, evacuation, cancelled event, alert status, lost children etc), Risk Assessment for build-up, event day and break down, security, alcohol management policies etc.
